As soon as Jill sent through the photo’s for Kerry and Gary’s wedding we were so excited to blog about their gorgeous day. Surprisingly we were blessed with sun and clear skies during October of all months, which makes a lovely change to Britain’s usual drizzly dull weather!
I was so impressed with Kerry and Gary’s stylish wedding, lots of beautiful hints of navy and peach which really compliments The Kedleston’s already subtle style. Take a peek through the stunning photo’s from their special day.

Ceremony: The Orangery
Menu: Kedleston’s notorious crab and crayfish cocktail to start followed by a good old Sunday roast, finished with an all time favourite deconstructed bake well pudding.
Evening grub: Owen Taylor’s local Derbyshire pig, cooked low and slow, pulled and shredded to make the world’s best pulled pork, stuffing & gravy baps.
How did you both meet?
What’s the story behind your engagement?
We’d been together for quite a long time and all our friends and family were expecting a proposal (or even a shotgun wedding!) when we were on holiday in Vegas last year!
So Gary decided to go for something which caught me completely off guard, on Christmas Eve while I was sat in my pj’s.
Think it’s the first time I’ve been lost for words!
Why did you choose The Kedleston?
We really wanted somewhere warm, intimate and friendly. We’d looked at other venues but the weird carpet and chair covers really freaked me out! The Kedleston was so cosy and beautifully renovated. The styling is exactly to my taste and the beautiful rooms were just what I wanted for my family and bridal party.
How did you feel the planning up to your day went?
Everything seemed to run really smoothly. The Kedleston were really accommodating and helpful with any little request or questions I had.
How do you feel the day itself went? (food, service & atmosphere)
The day was absolutely perfect. As we said our vows the sun came out and was streaming through the glass roof of The Orangery. We’ve had lots of comments that the food was the best people had had at a wedding and the service was outstanding.
The Orangery was the perfect spot for the wedding and its beautiful surroundings meant we achieved an intimate and relaxed feeling throughout the day.
What was the best moment of the day?
There are so many highlights; I absolutely loved getting ready in the Kedleston Suite with my mum and bridesmaids – it was so much fun.
Then seeing Gary waiting at the end of the aisle for me and partying with our nearest and dearest!
Any advice for couples planning their wedding?
Enjoy all the planning and build up and don’t stress about the small stuff. Everything will work out. Also try to take a moment to take everything in during the day, it all goes so quickly.

The Kedleston is such a lovely venue, and was perfect for the type of day they planned. All the little personal touches made the whole event feel very special and whimsical. I especially loved Kerry’s choice of dress – so classic (but with pockets! A fab touch), and the cake by The Sugared Rose. We had gorgeous golden October light to play with and were able to get some beautiful shots around the venue which perfectly suited the romantic and relaxed style of the day.
